While Open Educational Resources make learning more accessible for students, the creation of OERs can seem intimidating - I often hear "I'm not that creative," "I don't have the right tools," "I don't have the skills," among other misconceptions.
The fact of the matter is, with the low- to no-cost tools available these days, anyone can create materials to engage students in the learning content - anything from images, interactive flashcards, or videos, all the way up to fully-developed ebooks!
Over the last few years, my go-to type of media has been video, so you'll find a lot of that on this website, but there are many other types of content that you can create.

Economics Videos
These videos are created using a basic Digital Storytelling approach (not to mention a few stick people...).
|
"Man on the Street" VideosThese videos provide a more concrete link for students between the content they are learning and the "real world."
|
Other disciplines
Just a few demo videos to show that anyone could create similar materials, no matter what discipline they teach!
|
iBooks
Created using the free iBooks Author software, books with rich, interactive content can be created easily.
|
eBooks
The eBooks that I have created use a specific web-based (free!) tool, Atavist.
